Mechanical Student Pratik Lanjewar creates Lion Sculpture

Sculpture of Make in India LION by Mechanical Engineering Department of Jhulelal Institute of Technology, Nagpur

Jhulelal Institute of Technology’s Fourth Semester Mechanical Engineering Student Mr. Pratik Lanjewar fabricated a model of the Make in India LION out of scrap material. He has worked tirelessly to create the Make in India Lion sculpture as part of our honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi’s Make in India campaign. The logo is the silhouette of a lion on the prowl, made entirely of cogs, symbolizing manufacturing, strength and national pride.

Mechanical engineering is the backbone of India’s manufacturing and production sector, as Mr. Pratik Lanjewar has proven by merging his mechanical skills into it. Mr. Pratik Lanjewar has been working on this project since last one month, and this lion is made entirely of discarded material from vehicle engines, such as gears, crankshafts, bearings, clutch plates, and other components. He began his work by fabricating the lion’s raw skeleton body, after which he cut various machine components to his requirements and welded them to the skeleton in the workshop of JIT.

During the NAAC peer team visit to the institute, NAAC Committee Chairman Dr. H. N. Nagaraja praised his work and awarded him with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. The Chairman of the Institute Mr. Maheshji Sadhwani also announced cash prize of Rs. 10000/- for his outstanding achievement & Mr. Virendra Kukreja, Secretary of the Institute praised his work and promised him a job after completion of his graduation.

Dr. Madhavi Wairagade, Director HR & Admin. has supported all students centric activities. Mr. Pramod Pampatwar, Director Technical, Dr. Narendra Bawane, Principal, Dr. Debashish Bhowmick, Vice Principal, Mr. Prakash Dhopte, HOD Mechnaical Engg. and Mr. Anurag Karande, Assistant professor

In order to achieve Six Sigma, organizational processes need to keep their defects to a maximum of 3.4 per million (99.99966%) opportunities. A Six Sigma defect can be defined as anything that is outside of client specifications. Its objective is to minimize the variability in business and manufacturing processes. One of the salient highlights is the ability to create focus on achieving quantifiable and measurable financial returns from any six sigma project.
