WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL

Aim:-

To create awareness of the women’s rights and to empower women.

Objectives:-

  • To create social awareness about the problems of women; in particular regarding gender discrimination.
  • To develop the self confidence in women.
  • To guide about women the welfare laws.
  •   To assert the importance of spiritual, economic, social, racial and gender equality.  
  •  To highlight the importance of health and hygiene.
  •   To direct women’s role in the society.
  • To develop multidisciplinary approach for the overall personality development.
  • To organize seminars, workshops relating to women development.
  • To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non teaching women staff of the college.
  • Identification of strong leadership and change makers and build their capacity.
  • To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.
  • The provision of opportunities and programs for female gender to be financially, mentally and emotionally empowered so as to promote their growth as individuals in their own right.
  • To help the self help group women to get financial support by identifying the sources.
  • To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls, scientists at the earliest so that they can be “job givers” rather than “job takers”.
Activities:-
  • Encourage people to work in the area of women’s development through the activities of the cell.
  • Organize seminars, workshops for creating general awareness and orientation of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff for their active and sustained participation in the activities of cell.
  • Organize various types of training programs and create awareness about self-employment schemes for the encouragement of self-reliance among women.
Roles & Functions:-
  • To encourage involvement through academic, cultural and outreach activities such as talks, seminars, workshops, community action, drama, street theatre, poster-making etc.
  • To become a resource centre for women and provide a forum for exchange of ideas.
  • To review safety and security measures for female employees and girl students at JIT campus.
  • The cell intends to bring girl students to the forefront of different activities in the college by offering various facilities and benefits to them. It provides a platform for the female students to explore their co-curricular abilities.
                                                                                                                             
JIT Organized Awareness Program on Menstruation Health and Hygiene, Personality Development

A one-day awareness program on "Menstruation Health and Hygiene, Personality Development" was organized to promote health awareness, personal care, and overall personality growth among students. The session aimed at breaking myths and taboos around menstruation, educating students on best hygiene practices, and guiding them towards confidence-building and personality enhancement.

“Seminar on Women Safety in Public”

Women’s Empowerment Cell, Jhulelal Institute of Technology, Nagpur had organized a session on “Seminar on Women Safety in Public”. The expert guest was Ms. Snehlata Dhawale, Police Traning Center, Nagpur, started by giving a description and knowledge about the how to deal with people in public places. She gave detailing about the women safety related cases.

“Health Checkup Camp for Women on account of Cancer Awareness Month”

The Women Empowerment Cell at Jhulelal Institute of Technology, in collaboration with National Cancer Hospital (NCI), Nagpur, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness and Free Check-up Camp on October 22, 2024. This initiative was aimed at enhancing breast cancer awareness among the women of JIT, emphasizing early detection, available treatments, and preventive steps. This segment of the event provided an essential opportunity for women above the age of 35 to undergo a free breast cancer check-up, conducted by specialists from NCI, Nagpur. The camp saw an enthusiastic response, with many women availing the free screening services. The participants appreciated the thoroughness of the check-up, which was aimed at identifying potential health concerns early.

“Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness”

Dr. Murtuza Bohra conducted an informative awareness session focused on the prevention, symptoms, and treatment of breast cancer. The session covered a range of critical topics, including early signs of breast cancer, self-examination methods, treatment options, and lifestyle changes to reduce risk factors. The speaker emphasized the importance of regular screenings and highlighted advancements in treatment options that can significantly improve recovery rates. The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions, making the event a comprehensive learning experience.

“Seminar on Menstrual Hygiene and Personality Development”

The Women Empowerment Cell at Jhulelal Institute of Technology, in collaboration with Whisper, organized a Seminar on Menstrual Hygiene and Personality Development on 16 January 2025. The guest speaker Ms. Mitali Paltiwale address the important topics of menstrual health and its impact on overall personality growth. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene practices and empower individuals with practical knowledge to manage menstrual health confidently. Additionally, the seminar highlighted how a healthy approach to menstruation can positively influence self-esteem and personality development.
